Impulse Purchase

My sweet hubby often falls victim to impulse purchases. He went to Tractor Supply Co. for some horse feed and came home with...

a paddle boat for our pond! I'm thinking this wasn't one of those items strategically placed at the checkout...lol.

I love it! I haven't went for a ride yet...I am waiting to go with Dr. Hubby for the first time. The girls loved it! Super fun!

Not Your Stereotypical

Beautiful...tall...thin...nicely dressed...jewelry...neat...snooty...perfectionist...wound a little too tight...

When Dr. Hubby was in med school I got lots of comments from friends, family members, and even acquaintances about how I was going to be after he became a doctor. "You'll forget about us." It seems alot of people have a certain picture in their head about what a doctor's wife is like. I started thinking they expected me to change into a completely different person!

Now that he has 5 years under his long white doctor's coat I can confidently say I have not changed. I don't fit the stereotype. And I am glad. I mean let's be honest...alot of the stereotypical characteristics expected from a doctor's wife are not exactly complimentary.

Now I get comments like "You aren't anything like I expected you to be." and "You are so down to earth." It's like they are shocked. Odd. One of Manga Dork's friends said she thought I would be tall and thin with pleated skirts and high heels. That really makes me laugh.

Funny thing is...alot of the people who said those things while he was in med school are the ones who act different around us...or have even disappeared from our lives.

I am very happy to be a casual, denim and flip flop wearing, slightly immature, funny, always smiling, chubby, slightly messy, loud, countrified doctor's wife.

I'm not the only one in this family that isn't following a stereotype.

Ever go to a doctor's office and try to figure out which car belongs to the doc?

Well, this "played in the back pasture at midnight last night" mud covered truck with a coonhunting dog box on the back belongs to our doc in town!

TGIF!

Special Delivery

On Tuesday we received a special delivery from our local florist. How fun! This gorgeous arrangement brightened my day and looks beautiful on our new Longaberger wrought iron coffee table. Who is it from? The nurse practitioner at Dr. Hubby's office. She started working at the office in July when the Dr. she worked for originally moved to another state. 3 other people came with her. The transition went alot smoother than anticipated and they all appear to be assets to the office.

Thank You Nurse C.

Go Look In The Bathroom!

Last Friday evening I took Wild Child to a birthday party. Her first since breaking her leg at the last one she attended. I was a little nervous, but everything was fine. Dr. Hubby took Manga Dork and Cutie with him. When I came home Dr. Hubby asked me, "How much do you love me?" and "Would you ever leave me?" I totally freaked out. He said, "Go look in the bathroom."

I opened the bathroom door and out popped this furry little cutie...

Meet Toby, the Shih Tzu. My heart sank. I don't have time for a puppy...the feeding, the taking out to use the bathroom, the accidents to clean up...ugh!

Well, turns out Toby is almost 2 years old and neutered. He is the easiest dog! I had just told BFF Ruth the other day that I would love to have a house dog...if it was already housebroken and easy!

This is Toby after he had a bath. He just stands in the tub and lets you do what you need to do. No shaking, climbing out, or growling.

I love him. He is already a part of the family. Annie Louise, my outside furbaby isn't real thrilled with him though. Probably because he follows her around with his nose up her butt...lol. I wouldn't like him either.

Happy Monday!

"Hampering" My Cleanup Efforts

In an attempt to solve a major clutter problem in our bedroom I purchased the Longaberger Hamper Basket. It works pretty well. Except for a certain someone who leaves HIS clothes on the floor in front of it. I'm gonna have to consult the training manual again...

You've Never Had It So Random...{Turkey Day Edition}

Before we left for WV on Wednesday I received a package in the mail from my bloggy friend, Sondra. How exciting!

I can't wait to heat up this little pot and make my home smell like CUPCAKES! Thank you Sondra! You made me feel very special.

On Turkey Day we attempted a family portrait for our Christmas card. I think I'll just go with individual ones of the girls...
I love spending time with my granny and mom. Dinner was delicious!

The littles thought it was hilarious when Granny and Papa Pat put on their cowgirl hats. It was pretty funny...
We drove to our cousins' home to spend the night. Well, Dr. Hubby and the littles spent the night...Manga Dork and I left to go Black Friday shopping at 10 pm. We got back home at 8:30 AM and slept for 2 hours. I felt like a zombie on crack, but I got some great deals!
We headed back home at 6 PM. Since my Escalade is "broken" {the last I heard was something about $9,000 damage} we had to pile in Dr. Hubby's Ford F250 Superduty. Not nearly as comfy as the nice big seats and 6 DVD screens of the Escalade. Here's what the back seat looked like...
Wild Child propped on Manga Dork's knees.

This may be my fave picture of 2010...hahahahaha...Cutie was completely worn out. Manga Dork's head was in Cutie's lap, but in order to not die from the glare of a moody teen I will not show a pic of her...heehee.
On Saturday {I still had Black Friday Hangover} we ended the Turkey Day celebrations with dinner and game night at my inlaws. We played Monopoly and MIL beat us all! Be on the lookout for flying pigs!

Hope you had a fantastic holiday!

What Is My Favorite Part Of Hunting Season?

Hot hunky hunters!
I did not ask him to pose like that. Kinda scares me...lol.

He was in Cabelas for 3 hours picking out all his gear and a new gun while I was shopping in TJMaxx explaining to Wild Child why we DO NOT like the hot pink REAL FOX FUR ear muffs.
That is one good thing about my blog...they can just print out posts like this for their therapist.
Happy Tuesday!

My Redneck Man

Yesterday my Dr. Hubby and FIL attended the yearly MEGA fleamarket in a nearby town. He called me and declared it a "hillbilly mall." He was in HEAVEN!

He never leaves the house without an ironed shirt, but he said at the flea market it wouldn't matter.

He said there weren't many women there...maybe 5 young girls and a few chain smokin' grandmas. He came home with a Suzuki Samurai to go "ridge riding", a boat motor, a Smith and Wesson, 2 Beagles, a saddle, and some drill bits. {I WILL be placing an order for my tables from Longaberger tomorrow!} I was shocked at how much he spent...but I LOVE that he had such a good time.

I love that he came home smiling and talking about how great his day was with his Dad. It was hard to give him up for the day...I was even dumb enough to agree to let him go back today. His Dad called at 8AM saying he couldn't sleep for thinking about going back today. I didn't have the heart to tell him "no." So I took a pic of my Louis "Faux"ton purse so he can pick up a matching wallet at the fake purse booth and kissed him goodbye.
Should I be worried that he took the dog crate again?!
And I think I heard him say "coon dog."

Back To Life...Back To Reality...

That 80s song is always in my head on the way home from vacation. I can't remember who sings it...

Here's a few more adventures from our big blue house. Which by the way is called "A Sun of a Beach." I hated that name. I tried NOT to book it because of the name. It is the only house that fit everything we required at the time. When I went into the office to pick up the keys the guy at the counter said, "What did you just say!?" Then died laughing at himself. I was only mildly amused.

One evening I took family photos on the beach. I got some really good ones for the cousins. I keep calling them all cousins...the husband and wife are actually Dr. Hubby's aunt and uncle. They are only 40 so they seem more like cousins.

We met this crabby little guy one morning. Cutie Patootie turned and went straight back to the house. She won't even eat at Red Lobster because of the lobster tank.

For our 16th anniversary Dr. Hubby and I went out to dinner with the gang and then we saw Eclipse {I loved it}. I gave Dr. Hubby a gorgeous bracelet from the Russell Simmons collection. He gave me my FIRST iPod...a 32G iPod Touch...I have barely put it down since. I am learning how to do everything on it. So far I have downloaded only one song...Fall For You by Secondhand Serenade...oh and I downloaded "The Top 25 moments from Real Housewives." heehee

Dr. Hubby's uncle surprised us by actually going through with getting a REAL tattoo. I am not a fan of tattoos. It inspired this...

Manga Dork's means "dangerous." That made me laugh. I think Cousin Kay's meant "eternal." Hey maybe the dude who keeps leaving spam comments on my blog can translate for me! lol

Cutie got an unicorn.

Wild Child loved her dolphin!
Our trip was great. It took FFOOORRREEEVVVEEERRR to drive home thanks to some insane traffic. I was headed to bed at midnight when I spied my new People magazine...Bethenney from NYC Housewives was on the cover...I actually stayed up to read the article. I may need a 12 step program soon...

It's Going Too Fast!

I can't believe it is already Thursday! It is that point in the vacation where you start thinking about going home...I'm not ready! Here's a another sample of the fun we are having...

We drove south to Myrtle Beach for a day. We ate at PFChangs and the air conditioner in my Escalade went out...and the temp on the rearview mirror said 104 degrees! Then we took the kids to Family Kingdom amusement park and proceeded to sweat more than I have ever sweated before! It was fun watching the kids enjoy themselves though!

Cousin Kayla and I took a walk on the beach one evening and ran into this guy. A fisherman had caught him. He was safely returned to his ocean...he didn't look real amused...lol.

I got the idea for this photo on flickr. Dr.Hubby and I are going to take one later. These are the cousins.

On the 4th of July we attempted a family photo. Manga Dork went to see Eclipse and the little ones were cranky. I don't know what my exscuse was...

I love gummy candy. We found the "World's Largest Gummy Snake." He was 36 inches long.
Today is our 16th wedding anniversary. We are going out to see Eclipse tonite! I can't wait to give Dr. Hubby his gift!

Time to go get more sand on my toes...

I Sometimes Imagine A Little Yappy Pomeranian

Yesterday evening while running back and forth trying to get pre-vacation stuff done I glanced out the window and saw this sky. I immediately dropped everything and went outside to sit on the porch. Amazing! I felt like God inticed me to take a break...my feet were killing me!

This also reminds me of a conversation I had last weekend with Dr. Hubby. We were on our way to WV.

Scrappy: Are you excited about 4wheeling?
Dr. Hubby: I wouldn't call it excited. I think it will be fun.
Scrappy: Why wouldn't you call it excited?
Dr. Hubby: I don't get excited over stuff like you do. You even get excited about eating a certain food.

Ok this isn't the first time I have been told something like this. It makes me imagine a yappy little pomeranian bouncing around excitedly over a treat. I also don't think it's a bad thing. I just really really really enjoy life and the little things. And he is SO right cause...

I am so EXCITED to eat hushpuppies with honey butter at Lighthouse Restaurant...ON THE PIER! Eeeeeeee!

I am also excited to go on a date with Dr. Hubby at the beach to celebrate our 16th anniversary! Wait til you see the present I got him...it is so HOT! I can't wait to give it to him!

Do you get excited over the little things? Do you take time to smell the roses or enjoy the sunset?

You've Never Had It So Random {MIA Edition}

Boy I can't believe it has been 10 days since my last post! I think that may be a record for me...lol. Here's a little of what I have been up to lately...

The kiddos have been enjoying summer! We bought a new slip and slide!

Wild Child has been driving me nuts with her mosquito bites. She keeps digging them into the blood...scratching off the scab...she's a bloody polka dotted mess. I threatened her with a trip to the ER with shots involved and she is finally letting them heal.

Dr. Hubby bought a new toy. A 1974 MG Midget. Riding in it is FUN, but it makes me feel FAT! lol

I made Julie's CHERRY PIE SALAD twice. Once for home and then again for Dr. Hubby's family reunion. YUM! Get the recipe HERE and prepare to fall in love with Julie and her blog.
Speaking of the reunion...we rode our 4wheelers to it and on the way back to my inlaws' home we got caught in a thunder storm. We were drenched...water drained from our clothes as we got off the 4wheelers...it was a blast!

Wild Child played her last tball game. We all wore matching team shirts to cheer her on this season!

After the game we ran into the WHS alumni parade. It kicks off alumni weekend in our little town. The 2 little ones ran around giggling and collecting candy thrown from the cars.
While getting new brakes on the Escalade I took the 3 girls to see TOY STORY 3. It was so good. Definitely take your kiddos to see it. I love hearing the little people giggles during a movie in the theater. The Disney Store has $5 plush TOY STORY 3 toys...we picked up Buttercup the Unicorn and Mr. Prickle Pants.
I visited my mom and dad for 4 days. I got to go shopping with my BFF Ruth and her sister. There are some great sales out there! Victoria Secret has Heavenly Flowers perfume at 75% off! The bottle I paid $48 for is now $12! I got me another one...
Hope all is well with you! I am off to read your blogs...

Celebrating

Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day!

I cleaned all day and then we celebrated Dr. Hubby's 35th with dinner, cake, and presents! I gave him a coffee maker with the promise of fresh coffee every morning. Wild Child gave him 2 stainless steel coffee cups. Cutie gave him 2 kinds of coffee. Manga Dork gave him a copy of his fave magazine "Diesel World."

For our dinner I made Tangy Oven Barbecued Chicken {a Pampered Chef recipe}. This was very yummy and I am looking forward to the leftovers for lunch today! Dr. Hubby chose rice, mashed potatoes, and mixed greens for the sides.
Tangy Oven Barbecued Chicken
1 3-3.5 pound broiler-fryer chicken, cut up {I used 3 lbs of skinless boneless breasts}
1 cup barbecue sauce {I used KC Masterpiece original}
1/4 cup peach or apricot preserves {I used Smuckers peach}
1 tsp. dried thyme leaves
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Place chicken in pan.
Combine remaining ingredients and spoon over chicken.
Bake 1 hour or until chicken is no longer pink in the center.

35

Today is Dr. Hubby's birthday!

He is 35...yes I am 6 months older than him...he likes cougars.

I asked him yesterday if he wanted to make a "35 Things I Want To Do While I Am 35" list. He said, "No, my life is just how I want it." Then he named off the reasons he feels that way. How sweet.

One downside to his profession is that it tends to make him very serious. I love and cherish the times when Dr. Hubby lets himself act a little silly.

I {heart} you honey!
Hope you have a fantastic day!

Walking A Thin Line...Between Sanity And Completely Losing It

For the last month I have kinda felt like this. Here are just a few things that are making me feel this way...

1. Dr. Hubby's 35th birthday is Monday and I don't know what to get him...at all.

2. My MIL is going through an "I'm worried about the kids and you don't even seem to care" phase. She calls and talks about "poor little Wild Child" and how she thinks she needs her hearing tested. And "poor little Manga Dork" goes to a "country dentist" and do I really think that he knows if she needs a retainer on her bottom teeth or not. It is drivin' me flippin' crazy.

3. It is almost the end of May and Dr. Hubby still has not hired a contractor for our remodel. Everyone is probably already booked and we are not going to get it done.

4. I am the leader of our TOPS weight loss group and I seem to be trying to eat everything in sight.

5. Dr. Hubby has brought home 7 cats in the last couple weeks. 5 are babies that need more attention than I have the time or energy to give them.

6. Dr. Hubby has been overly critical with me and I feel like I can't win for losing when it comes to "housewifery."

7. How does someone go about feeling "sexy" when you know you have the body straight off a "gag" birthday card from Spencers. I keep picturing the card with the big fat woman laying next to a birthday cake.

8. Yesterday was so craptastic that I ended it sitting in my porch swing. I needed quiet to think and relax. Unfortunately the main thought that came to me was "I'm not going to survive the summer if every day is like this."

I think I am going through one of those transitions, and I am having a hard time finding myself. I am sure you have noticed the zillion background changes to my blog...nothing seems to fit. I will figure out a way to lick my wounds and clean myself off soon I hope.

Once Upon A Time...

there was a very pretty princess. She lived with her parents Dr. King and Queen of the Crop. Her parents were very proud of her. She was a well behaved kid and always did well in school.

One day the princess brought home midterms that were not up to par. The Queen merely said, "Fix it before report cards. This is just laziness. See what you can do." The princess spent a few late nights doing homework. The Queen was pleased, but still a little concerned about the impending report card on April 9th.

The princess came home from school one day excited about an upcoming dance. The Queen said, "Wear your new shirt and jeans we just bought." The princess pitched a royal fit and started spurting words such as "can't" and "looks awful" and "don't like." The Queen was not amused. The Queen knew they had just splurged on new items before their journey to Vegas AND a future trip to the village of Easton was already planned.

The princess decided to ask her grandmother for assistance. Of course she said she would take her. The Queen said "no." Then Dr. King said he would do it and set forth plans to take her. The Queen had flashbacks to the ugly ear piercing that Dr. King had permitted. Then Dr. King and the princess let another "cat out of the bag."

Dr. King had taken the princess and let her lay in the bed of impending doom {tanning bed}. The Queen has always been adament about her dislike of the bed. She went to her own bed feeling stressed and betrayed.

How does the Queen regain her power? What's next for the princess...nipple piercing? Stay tuned...

You've Never Had It So Random...{No Kids Edition}

It is weird not having the little ones under my feet. I keep hearing them say my name. Creepy.

I don't know if I am having a seasonal crisis...midlife crisis {a little early}...or an identity crisis. My "self" just feels off. I feel like I am questioning all my thoughts, beliefs, feelings, actions, etc. I can't seemBold to find my gRoOvE.

Last night Wild Child called and said she wants to come home. I better start scrapping FAST!

Manga Dork and I saw "Valentine's Day" yesterday...I was expecting STUPID...I LOVED it! The characters are all so likeable. We laughed...we said "Awww...how sweet." Such a cute film. Taylor Lautner actually has the line "I'm not comfortable taking off my shirt in public." I LOL'd. Lil Sis you have need to go see it NOW!

Dr. Hubby let Manga Dork pierce the top of her ear while I was innocently in a CRAFTS 2000 induced coma at the mall. When we got in the car and were driving out of the parking lot I had to stop the car and sit for 10 minutes...my blood was boiling. Both of them knew I was against it.

My BIL and SIL are moving off the farm this month. This makes me sad and mad. We could have had SO much fun, but it is ALWAYS drama. I guess I am mourning all the good times we could have had.

Happy Monday! {Prepare to be dazzled and amazed tomorrow by all my scrappy creations!}

Yep.

I was thrilled.

However, he was the one who said to pop in disc one. {grin}

Grow Old With Me...The Best Is Yet To Be

Love is the thing that enables a woman to sing while she mops up the floor after her husband has walked across it in his barn boots.--H. Farmer

And the Lord God said, It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helpmate for him. -Gen. 2:18

You know when you have found your prince because you not only have a smile on your face but in your heart.

Happy Valentine's Day!
