Real or Fake?

A fake fan?

Am I a fake Saints fan?

Several people have questioned my...ummmm...what would you call it...intentions?...loyalty? I don't know.

But I do know WHY I am a New Orleans Saints fan.

When we traveled to New Orleans I fell in love...

with the people...their spirit. They are some of the most genuine people I have ever met. They have been to hell and back. You can tell they love their city, but they will also admit that living there is not easy.

with the city...it is such an interesting place. I love the streetcars...the artists performing on the streets...the history...the architecture. Bourbon Street...not so much. I consider that the black eye on the face of a wonderful city to visit.

with the excitement on Saints game day. You should be in NOLA on game day. The people are excited...they have something to feel proud of...something to give them hope for their city. They were 5-0 when we were there. Manga Dork bought all her super fan souveniers...and all of a sudden our family had a new interest.

football.

Ummm...we are not a sports family. I organized the stuff on my cell phone during the Yankees game. B.O.R.I.N.G.

But I found that I LOVE football. So who should be "my team." At one point everyone had to pick "their team." What makes a team "acceptable" for you to pick it? Why is "your team" the one you picked to cheer on?

Did you pick the one from your state? {That's not gonna happen...I may be new but I know BAD when I see it}. Did you pick the one the rest of your family cheers for? Did you pick the team that is having the best season?

I am a Saints fan. I chose them for the energy surrounding them. I felt it while I was there.

I had no idea they would go this far...so you can't say I like them just because they were doing so well. What are the chances they would go from winning just 5 games to playing in their first ever Super Bowl.

I AM a Saints fan...a real one.

I honestly could not care less about this game. I haven't watched a single football game this season and I know nothing about the teams.

But, I would probably root for the Saints too, just because of the things you mentioned.

We are football fans here for sure! Hayman has been a Cowboys fan since he was three. Our son is a Cowboys fan and Countrychick has been a Colts fan since she was five! She is glued to the TV at the moment! I had always liked football, but never really had a team until the last expansion teams came out back in the 90's. I decided at that time to pick one of those two teams and I chose the Carolina Panthers. They have been my team ever since. As a fan, I have to stand by them through the good years and bad...more bad recently, but that's okay. Back in the late 90's the Panthers met the Cowboys in the playoffs. I made a bet with Hayman that the Panthers would win that game and if they did, he had to buy me a Panthers NFL jacket. Well they beat the Cowboys and someone got mad and I'm still waiting for that jacket...he, he. I applaud your choice of teams. The Saints have had an amazing season and I'm happy to see them in the Super Bowl. You are not a "fake" Saints fan....You are a new Saints fan and that is awesome! =)

Um. I am speechless. You said Yankees and boring in the same sentence.

It's okay. I still like you anyway.

I wasn't sure who I wanted to win..Cause I really didn't care. But during and after the game, I was rooting for the saints. It was a good game.
