Calling All Creative Minds!

Manga Dork's 13th birthday party is on Saturday, September 13th. The theme is going to be "Club Manga Dork," a 1980s dance club. We are renting the gym at our local community center and I just hired a DJ today! He even has a cool rhyming name (Carman Harman). LOL! So I have the place and the entertainment. The next step is the invitation...Here is my best idea...I want to do a flyer inviting everyone to the newest "freshest" dance club in our area like you see people passing out in NYC. I want to have cheesey 80s clip art on it and run them off on assorted neon colored paper. We are also going to attach a friendship bracelet (the weaved looking ones we ALL wore in the 80s). You have to have the bracelet to get in. Oh yeah...we also have a bouncer with tattoos to let people in!

I would LOVE to hear your ideas for invitations...keep in mind she is inviting the entire 7th and 8th grades and it will be close to 150 invites!

Here is some inspiration...

Happy Sunday! Relax and enjoy your 3 day weekend!

Weekend Update

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Four Seasons Farm's Weekend Update. I am your host, Scrappy Girl. Let's get started...

This week the top story that reared it's ugly head in every activity... PMS!

I still feel like this, but...

I calmed the "inner beast" by eating these and...

this! All my family is ready for PMS to move on.

On Tuesday, Manga Dork and Wild Child went back to school. We endured some BFF drama. BTW, I did mention this to her Nana who said she would talk to her about it. We are close enough for me to do this. After 4 days of 2 hour volleyball practices, 1 hour of cheernastics, and 4 days in Junior High...Manga Dork was completely overwhelmed. I insured her it will get more manageable. Wild Child LOVED preschool and is ready to attend again next week.

On Wednesday, we witnessed GOAT GONE WILD! We did find Charlie and he is ok. He has a loose horn and seems to be giving Tony the cold shoulder.

On Thursday we battled the weight issue. Be on the lookout for some great changes in our lifestyle! My plan starts with me and spreads to my children. After all, they model what they see. I am going to be a BETTER role model.

On Friday, Manga Dork went camping with Lil Bro, SIL, niece, nephew, FIL, an MIL. Woo Hoo! It is only us on the farm for the whole weekend! I hope she has a great time! They are in Amish Country...hope she doesn't bring back that Amish virus! LOL!

In blogging world, I found things that...

Made me laugh........Dream.Imagine.Live (I am new to her blog and this cracked me up)

Made me cry............Crazy Lady Jan (Hit too close to home)

Made me think........Colorado McEwens (You may get frequent flyer miles for this one)

I will leave you with this thought...

Autumn is right around the corner...I can smell it in the air!
Happy Weekend!

Funny Friday

You have just received the Amish virus.
Since we have neither electricity nor computers, you are on the honor system.
Please delete all your files.
Thank thee.

I Hate Weight!

Little girls should not have to worry about being called FAT! I hate that so many young girls are self conscious about the way they look.

Manga Dork has been very self conscious about her weight lately. She needs to lose a few pounds, but she looks so cute in her clothes. At the Back to School fashion show we had to tell her constantly to unwrap her arms so we could see her shirt. She even tries to wear her hair pulled forward on the sides so it looks like she is hiding. Over the summer she wanted to drop 20 pounds, but she did not. On the first day of school, her BFF said "You got fatter" to her in front of a group of kids. Argh...I am still fuming over that one.

At least Wild Child was able to go to preschool this morning without someone criticizing her for the way she looks. BUT girls are worrying about their looks at a much younger age.
Jan had a great post (Mirrors) about her sweet daughter's self confidence that you should check out. It made me tear up because of what we are going through with Manga Dork.
In the next couple weeks I am going to do a major overhaul on our eating habits. I don't want her to feel bad PLUS I am slowly gaining back what I worked so hard to lose. Time for a change!
Happy Thursday...the weekend is almost here!

Charlie the Pygmy Goat Who Thinks He's a Horse...

Meet Charlie the Pygmy Goat. He is the smelliest thing on the farm. You are in BIG trouble if you get downwind of him! He has always thought he was a horse. We have 4 other goats and he refuses to have anything to do with them. He is only happy if he is with the horses. Yesterday evening he decided to pick on Tony the Belgian cross horse.

He was running Tony in circles. If Tony would stop he would head butt his back legs.

We tried scolding Charlie and he wouldn't listen.

Tony would dip his head at him and run away.

Charlie was so persistent he didn't even notice us throwing apples to get his attention. We also thought this would stop Tony.

Tony kicked Charlie in the side one real good time. All Charlie did was stand on his back legs, bow his head, and head for Tony's back legs again.

Tony even got all kung fu on him....I can only imagine how cool this pic would be with a Nikon (Hint Hint).

We were unable to get Charlie to stop and Tony was getting sweaty. I was starting to worry about Tony! I called my FIL to tell him what was going on. Charlie continued to harass Tony all the way to the water troughs. FIL couldn't get him to quit before Tony kicked him very hard. It was getting dark. FIL said Charlie was bleeding and it looked like one of his horns were broke. I took my car to search for him. I found Tony, but Charlie was nowhere to be found. FIL was going to look for him this morning. So far I haven't heard anything...

First Day of School!

Today we started school! Summer just flew by and I am not ready for it to end. Manga Dork wore her new Baby Phat outfit. She looked so cute!

Wild Child was SO excited to go to school I had a hard time keeping her under control until our 2:00 orientation appt.

Wild Child raced to the door of the school ready to meet her teachers.

While we were waiting she couldn't leave the water fountain alone. I could just see her with water all down her shirt!

Oh no! Stuffed in her locker on the first day! That's not a good sign. LOL! She was in overload as she looked around the classroom at all the ABCs, 123s, toys, games, crayons, books, glue bottles, etc. She got so excited she had to go to the potty! At least she didn't pee on herself. That would have been a bad start!

Hope everyone had a great first day of school this year!

Proceed With Extreme Caution...

Today has not been a very good day. My PMS started affecting me late last night and I woke up this morning in full PMS swing. I haven't been able to tolerate hearing someone else breathe! No exaggeration. It has been a miserable day. I was a couple minutes away from putting the kids up for sale on ebay when this came in the mail...

A gorgeous card from my bloggy bud Melonscraps. She is such a talented gal. The colors on this card are gorgeous! It couldn't have arrived at a better time either!

I also received a letter from the Apple Gold Group that owns Applebee's restaurant. They sent me a letter saying how concerned they were about the metal in my food incident and that they are trying to find what it came from. They thank me for my time twice, but never apologize. They included a $50 gift card. Very nice gesture. Not sure I can use it any time soon though. My eating out anxiety has now been extended to nightmares. The other night I dreamed I found a HUGE nail stuck down in the side of my cheek. When I pulled it out it was about 5" long and rusty. Yikes! Hopefully that will go away.

I hate feeling the way I feel right now. I am usually happy and laughing. Now I just feel grouchy, bloated, headachey, and fat. I think I'll go write some hate mail to Carmen Electra...

Happy Monday! Tomorrow we start school...

8th Annual Back to School Fashion Show

Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the 8th Annual Back to School Fashion Show....
**WARNING: Photos are full of Cutie's toys and bad lighting.**

First up on the runway was Wild Child. This is her first official walk down the runway. She is modeling a fabulous find from The Children's Place. Her Mom paid 99 cents for the top and 99 cents for the shorts! Wow!

Manga Dork joined Wild Child for this walk down the runway. Love those Aeropostale jeans at 50% off!

Wild Child is modeling one of her mother's Maxx moments. This US Polo Association outfit was only $12.99 for ALL THREE PIECES!

Manga Dork had to have some AppleBottom jeans. The jeans were 50% off, but the shirt was almost the same price as the jeans! Yikes! She looks hip though...now all she needs are some "boots with the fur!" **Flo Rida song for those not hip on the hop**

At the end of the fashion show it is tradition for the audience to each try to guess each model's favorite outfit. Whoever guesses correctly wins a kiss from the model. Manga Dork owed her Daddy one! Wild Child was giving us some attitude. Good thing she didn't have a cell phone or she might have pulled a "Naomi Campbell." LOL!

Shades!

I couldn't resist capturing a few pics of our girls in their shades today. Summer is almost over. We start school on Tuesday.
"Cheesey pickles"

Smooches for Sissy

Wild Child wore panties out for the first time out with me today. She almost made it to the end, but had an accident. I luckily brought a change of clothes. There was another mom changing her daughter's clothes in the Sears bathroom because she had an accident.

Cutie Patootie enjoys going to the mall.

Manga Dork bought these cool Fossil sunglasses in NC.

First stop at the mall was for haircuts. Cutie gave us LOADS of attitude. We left her alone until another day.

Wild Child was ready for her haircut. She is excited about starting preschool.

Manga Dork's haircut looked great. Her hair is SO thick. We did not get home til 11PM. I am exhausted.

Sunday evening is our 8th annual Back to School Fashion Show!

County Fair

Last night we went to our county fair. The kids ALL love when the fair comes to town. The rides were ok...better than alot I have seen. It was so hot that we waited til 8PM to go. It was alot cooler, but it made it hard to take photos with my camera (Hint Hint). Manga Dork met up with her friends so I have no photos of her. She had a blast though!

After the rides we took Wild Child and Cutie Patootie over to the animal barns. Wild Child loved petting the bunnies. She also got her a handful of the shavings and poo underneath! Yuck!

The highlight of the barns was definitely the corn box. Like a sandbox...only with dry corn. My kids would have played for hours. Last year when we went home from the fair, I found a kernel of corn in Cutie Patootie's diaper. Of course....it's in the scrapbook! LOL!

Cutie was fine until something caught her eye,"shickens...ewwww." She is not crazy about the chickens.

Ooh...who is that cute cowboy playing in the corn box...I'd like to take him home...AND I DID! LOL! I love it when Dr. Hubby puts on his hat and boots....I like chaps too.

TGIF!

At the End of the Day...How Do You Relax?

My Dad (Gumpaw to the kids) relaxes in a lawn chair while killing horseflies off the deer. Then he freezes the horseflies to feed to the fish in the creek later. My parents live in a valley that is full of very friendly deer. BTW, I did not notice the dead horseflies until I squashed one with my bare foot! Ewww!

The local raccoon came over to enjoy some overripe fruits from Gumpaw's friend, the produce man. So cute! Reminds me of the movie "Elf"..."Does somebody want a hug?" LOL! That does not end very well...

We are back home and today is full of "fun" (can you hear the sarcasm). I procrastinated and I am trying to get Wild Child enrolled in preschool. She is completely "daytime" potty trained. Night time...not so much! LOL!

We are going to the County Fair tonight! Mmmmm....I can smell the funnel cake now!

Happy Thursday!
