We shopped a little and then made our way to catch the bus for our tour of Oak Alley Plantation.
We passed by the Superdome where Manga Dork's new favorite NFL team plays...New Orleans Saints.
After a few minutes Lil Sis tapped me on the shoulder from the seat behind me and whispered, "The guy beside you is picking his ear hairs out with tweezers." I glanced sideways and sure enough the guy who had sat beside me had his tweezers in his ears...then he decided to do his nose with AND WITHOUT the tweezers. He blew his nose a couple times too. I thought for sure I was on candid camera! Who does that in public!? He flicked everything in the floor.
We passed several plantations. This one is called "Felicity" and was used in the super creepy movie The Skeleton Key starring Kate Hudson.
Oak Alley Plantation was gorgeous! I could just see Hope and Bo running among the oaks or Brad Pitt burning the place down in Interview With the Vampire.
We returned to the French Quarter and decided to search out some of the places we had seen on our buggy tour last night. This is Brad and Angelina's place in the quarter.
This is the LaLaurie Mansion. It is the most haunted place in the quarter. One of it's owners kept slaves on the 3rd floor and performed horrible experiments on them. It is now owned by Nicholas Cage.
This is the Cornstalk Fence Hotel. The original owner put in the fence for his wife who was homesick for Iowa...how romantic!
Lil Sis fell in love with these dog paintings...she bought two prints. They are so cute!
It is really so weird how many people walk around or hang out on the streets with their dogs. You see dogs in cars, on leashes, in purses, on carriages, on balconies, and even sipping water out of a cup at Cafe Du Monde. The musicians on the streets are usually sitting with their dogs.
We ended the night with dinner at Bubba Gump's.
Tomorrow we head to the swamp!

How did you stand watching that guy do that? And why did you not get a photo???
I was too busy clinging to the window so nothing on me would touch him...lol! I was very nauseous by the time we got there.
I LOVE that they are so dog friendly down there! I wish all cities were like that! Those houses are really cool! Have you read Laura Child's scrapbook mysteries? I would totally be searching for the places she talks about in the French Quarter! LOL! I'm just dorky like that!
I went to New Orleans before Katrina and it was a blast! After that, I thought that I would probably NOT want to go back, but looking at your photos, I wouldn't mind going back after all. We did have a great time when we were there. The night life is something else! OH MY! Now the guy with the tweezers, you definitely should have taken a pic!
eewwwww-so disgusting, i'd have totally outed the guy to everyone else!!!
I love New Orleans and am so jealous! The photos are great, and what a cool thing that you got to go on a buggy ride! Eat a beinet for me! ;)
Oh, I am so homesick. What great photos and OMG, people are a trip. I am laughing my butt off at your misery (sorry). You poor girl, having to sit next to that freak. OK, I have been in this position but I had a little fun with it. It was on a flight back from Vegas and my hubby and I were not seated next to one another. I asked the guy next to me if he would mind switching seats w/my hubby. He would not. Fortunately, my hubby was right behind me. So, this guys thinks he could strike up a conversation with me. Well, let's just say I had no manners. I belched, I passed gas, coughed w/out covering my mouth, made constant excuses to get up and crawl past him (I think he liked this though - perv), I would say, things you want to do what with my hand? The guy got mad and finally changed seats. Others around knew what I was up to and laughed. Dumb Azz! Have a great day. Stopping over from SITS!
OMG fell for those giant trees behind you!! nice pics..
great photos, i think i would have dry heaved if that guy started picking his nose. I might have been ewwwwwwwwww out loud
That is gross about the plucking!! LOL! The plantations would be amazing to see! What a fabulous trip you're having!

loved all the houses! How sad about the haunted one...
I love all of the homes and the one with Kate Hudson from The Skeleton Key looks like there is so much property! Nicolas Cage's house is also very pretty, I would love to go inside of the mansions!
