A Surprise That Had Me Jumpin' Up & Down!

My Mom and Grandma told me they were coming for Thanksgiving at our home. I was VERY excited. In the back of my mind I thought "How great would it be if my Dad and Papa would come too." They have never been to the farm. My Dad rarely travels because of his wrecker service and my Papa gets "nervous" when away from home.

Well, I nearly knocked Manga Dork over when I saw them coming up our sidewalk!

I baked my first ham and fixed the dinner (except for the corn and green beans my Grandma brought). This is a big deal because I am not known for my cooking or baking...especially meat.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the meal. It made my heart swell...

It was so nice to have my family surprise me! I REALLY missed Lil Sis and BIL. We'll all be together on Christmas...

We gave my parents their birthday gifts...Mom got a Snuggie and Josh Groban's Christmas CD.

Dad got Seasons 1-3 of Sanford and Son. He loved that show...probably cause he can relate...he owns a wrecker service and HUGE junkyard.
My grandparents were very anxious about getting home before dark...they drove us nuts talking about time to leave.
It was a great holiday.

What made your holiday special?

I'm so glad they all came! My Grandpa was a farmer in another state so he RARELY made it to our home growing up. Heck, he wouldn't even come to my Mom's (his daughter) wedding- siting 'farm work' as the reason. I actually think it was because he was mad she got married in the Temple and he didn't want to 'support' it but whatever.

I'm happy that YOUR family came to support you in your big celebration! And congrats on pulling of an excellent meal.

How special! SO happy for you and your table is cute as can be too!

Our special moment this weekend was a campfire we built at the cabin last night. And we sat outside till long past dark and roasted hot dogs which I discovered Steve is excellent at doing on an open fire!

It was tons of fun!
Love, Dana

wow- great surprise! My grandparents are all about the 'leaving before it gets dark, too much traffic, crazy drivers' thing. they leave everything early too, :)
I am impressed that you cooked meat - ALl I had to do was bring crackers and cheese this year- and that was the best thing ever :)

So happy for you! Nothing like being with family. I'm happy my husband no longer has to work holidays and that my turkey turned out. I wasn't happy my MIL didn't make enough stuffing. What is Thanksgiving without leftovers for three days?

What a wonderful surprise for you Scrappy! Your meal looked wonderful!

My sis was here for Thanksgiving this year. She has not been over to see us in seven years! So it was great to have her with us. The day was fun and just being with family makes it all special!
