Croppin' Out Of My Comfort Zone

Yesterday I made a phone call that I had been putting off...

It was not a negative phone call. As a matter of fact, it was a phone call that hopefully will lead to F.U.N, but it took me out of my comfort zone. I am all about staying in my nice safe comfort zone...even if I am unhappy.

Hosting a crop in my schoolhouse is on my "35 Things" list...I am going to stretch it to a higher level. I called our local library and rented their room {a steal at $10}. I need to make some scrappy friends...actually I could use some friends that don't live in my computer {not that I don't cherish and appreciate each one of you}.

In the past I went to a Stampin' Up consultant's home for a monthly workshop. I looked forward to each one and it was hard to wait a whole month between each one. Well, last summer I didn't hear from the consultant. I called to get the new catalog in September. She acted like she wasn't sure if there was one. I asked if she was planning any workshops. She stuttered around saying "maybe in October." Well, in December I met one of the other girls who attended the workshops in a craft store. She said she missed me at the workshops. They had been meeting every month. After she left I took my cart over and cried in the adhesive aisle.

I don't know what I did. My work was up to par with everyone...even better than some. I enjoyed the time I spent in her home. I ordered ALOT from her...my mom was even her 2nd highest customer in 2008.

Well, I need to move on. I hope to get scrappers from our little town to come together...I won't be surprised if the SU consultant calls to sign up.

Wish me luck with this new adventure...

That stinks! But I'm happy you're moving on. I know, for me, it's really horribly terribly hard to move out of my comfort zone. Yay for you, and I know you'll be happy you did! How fun! -Tammy

I would totally be there if you didn't live a million miles away.

I'm in a SU card group. We meet every other month and I love it. Sorry your demo was lame :( That makes me sad.

It's more card making, but here is our stamp blog:

We need to be better about posting. They are few and far between. I just made some cards and need to put them up there.

I remember when that happened with the consultant. It's so weird and hard to understand, but I'm proud of you for moving on and doing something positive.

Yeah Scrappy! Your Scrapping event will be awesome! I would love, love, love to learn to scrapbook from someone like you!!!=) You are so talented and your layouts are always amazing! Maybe the SU consultant was jealous of you....you have a natural talent, do amazing work, etc.
Have fun with your event and yeah to stepping out of your comfort zone!! ((((HUGS)))

I can't believe she was so mean to you. She was probably jealous of your work! I'm glad you're starting on your own!!! I know you'll meet some people that recongize and admire your talent!

First off I am very proud of you for going out of your comfort zone. That is a super hard thing to do, especially after someone practically slaps you in the face. I am extremely bad about opening up to people and putting myself out there - for that very reason. My feelings are very tender and get wounded often. It's much safer at home where I can protect them.

Cherie is having a blog party in October. Are you coming? It is totally scaring me to death... and they put a lot of peer pressure on me to go (out of my comfort zone). So I caved and I am planning on going. I hope I can actually be brave like you. (btw..you should come).

Best wishes for a successful scrapping party. You are very talented in that area and can be a help to many people as you find new friends. Good Luck!

I know you will do great!! It will be successful and it will be the first step out of your comfort zone!!

And just for the record we would LOVE you to come to our Blog Meet in October. If you are interested e-mail me.

And...I did not peer pressure Sondra - ha ha - I sent her one e-mail and told her I hoped she would go. And she said "Yes"!! She's going to do great!! :D

So are you!!

I think it's great you're doing this. Moving out of my comfort zone is something I'm working on this winter too. I can't wait to hear more about it. You're bound to meet some new friends.

Have a great evening.

It will be good for you to meet some locals to get together with and scrap! That sounds like so much fun! I have a bunch and we get together about 4 times a year. We all work full time and honestly I'm surprised we do it that often :) It is so much fun!!!! I wish it could be every week!

I am one of the group that scrappygirl did meet with, which we DID NOT meet every month because we felt bad about not including her, and I guess since this is the second post about us I feel inclined to respond. The reason we stopped inviting you was because when YOU GAVE ME your blogspot and I started following it,(as did the others) we saw how you talked about your husbands family and the things you said about them (does your husband read your blog?)and we were afraid of what you might say about us because we sometimes share private information that we feel comfortable sharing with FRIENDS and did not want it on here so the world could see. We felt uncomfortable around you after that, I guess we should have spoke up but thought it better not to hurt your feelings and let it go, so here you have it on your blog since we know nothing is private with you. And if you really search your memory bank no one was jealous or mean to you, just worried that you would talk about us too. SUE
