I recently overheard a mother in the preschool line talking about how her son had seen a yard full of dandelions and said, "Mom why don't we have pretty yellow flowers in our yard."
The mom said she didn't have the heart to tell him that they put stuff on their yard so they won't grow.
Our yard is filled with dandelions and I love it! There is nothing better then a little hand with "farm fingernails" holding out a bright yellow flower she picked "just for you."
I put them in a small glass in my kitchen and every time I glance at them it makes my heart warm. I love them 'ol weeds...

Putting them under your chin, makes your chin yellow. Isn't that how it goes? I forget. Enjoy the blooms. Make tea from the leaves. Ah, spring!
That is so cute!
I used to have all sorts of boquets like that.
Sometimes I hate having an empty nest.
Sigh.
Yours are huge!
Those are prettier than any fancy bouquet!
I love it when my kids bring them home, so proud they found such "pretty flowers"!
my kids think they are fab too :D
One Moms weed is another Mom's beutifully, lovingly hand picked flower!
Those are some big dandelions!
Those are actually some of the sweetest bouquets to get - I really miss those!
P.S. I laughed so hard when I looked at my blog this morning! You jumped right on the bandwagon didn't you :D
Aww, I love how you are cherishing the colorful weeds! I would cherish them too except I am highly allergic to them, bummer.
My mom used to tell us when we were kids that they are God's favorite flower.... That's why there are so many
You are so right! I always treasured the bouquets I was given.
I can never resist when Connor picks flowers (or weeds) for me. Gotta love it.
when my children were young they would proudly come running through the door with the prettiest yellow flower and grass or two. I love the world through children's eyes. I was just sharing this story too. It means they are thinking of you, it means they saw something pretty and got it. I told my husband many years ago, you don't have to do things pricey, just a dandelion or weed would make me happy, because it means you were thinking of me!
I think I will blog about this experience. thanks for the spark. I would like it in my book for my children to remember.
i totally agree!
in fact I have a cup of them right here right now! Love it!
