oh he is so cute! I couldn't have resisted him either.
where I live, we have to wait until after April 15th to plant anything prone to freezing ie: most blooming annuals. That's the "average" last frost date, which means it could be earlier, could be later. Two years ago we had a hard freeze on April 22, I just covered everything up with blankets, towels, anything I could lay a hand on.
Most of my flowers now are perennials which means they stay in the ground year round anyway and can fend for themselves. I like that better!
