It's Storytime...

There once was this beautiful little girl (we'll call her Mongolian Duck) who was having a bit of trouble in school. The other kids had been calling her names like snob and stuck-up. One really hateful jealous little girl even went as far as to call her a b*@&#. This really bothered Mongolian Duck. She asked her mom (we'll call her Sappy) if she really was those things. Sappy hugged Mongolian Duck and told her "Absolutely NOT." Then Sappy explained some things about teen girls and their thought process...and maybe even a little about the parents who fail to teach them how to treat others.

The next evening Mongolian Duck and Sappy were at the grandparents home. Mongolian Duck asked her grandmother (we'll call her MILlie) if she was a snob or stuck up. MILlie told her that she was a little conceited and stuck on herself BUT not a snob or stuck up. Then Mongolian Duck said, "Am I a b*#@$?" MILlie paused and seemed to be thinking. Sappy held her breath and prayed..."PLEASE don't tear down this child...PLEASE reaffirm what I already told her....PLEASE ease her worries." MILlie said, "If you're not careful...you could be..." WHAT?!

That is not even the most unbelievable part...Sappy sat there and didn't say a word...She was in shock! She could really kick herself now AND MILlie's butt! Sappy talked with Mongolian Duck and explained that MILlie needed to be on crazy pills and didn't have a clue.

What would you have done?! What would you do now if you were Sappy?

Oh that's a tough one - and from a grandmother no less. I mean I don't know your family dynamic, you know, but maybe she was just not wanting to candy coat, you know say, "no you aren't, but if you act like one, people might call you that?" I don't know. I think she could have said whatever she meant a lot better! Or not at all! :) ::hugs::

WOW, Scrappy! I think like you I would have been in total shock that MIL LIE would even say such things!

You have a great relationship with your daughter, just explain you too were in shock!

I would have a chat with MILIE and find out what the point behind the hurtful words were.

I would also limit time spent with MILIE.

I am sorry for the pain MD is going through. I am so sorry. m

I to am in agreement with Mechelle! A talking too is overdue! Try to hold on to your composure and temper! It will be hard because of all the hurt feelings. But she needs to know she is crossing a line! It's one thing to put up with hurtful rhetoric toward you an adult, but to aim that at a innocent child will not be tolerated! I know you all live in very close quarters, but she needs boundaries! For your peace of mind and MD's self-esteem. You can do it! Dr. Hubby has your back!

Unbelievable!! I cannot believe MILLIE would say that to a grand daughter.... How mean!!! Doesn't she know the old saying "If you can't say something nice, don't say it at all"... Maybe you need to take over "Bambi" and have her watch it!! How hurtful - especially when Teenage girls have to endure mean girls in school (Which that in itself is a WHOLE other story). It is very tough to raise a daughter when it is acceptable when mean girls torment other girls. I feel so very bad for this very beautiful daughter of yours. Let MD know that we all think she is fabulous and a wonderful kid!! Don't let others beat you down, because she is a wonderful person. People who are jelous usually try to beat down any wonderful person to make them feel better (yet in the end it really affect their own life in a bad way). It's is NOT worth going through life thinking bad thoughts about yourself - what kind of life would that be? I think we just need to live the "BEST HAPPY" life we can and not dwell in the misery of others.. Be happy and choose better friends - friends that lift you up! Down deep you know who you are - just plain old FABULOUS - and Mom is too!!
Bottom line - don't worry about people who can't say anything nice.. they lose out in the end!
{{{{ Hugs to you and MD }}}}

I would pimp slap Millie! what the Heck??? and then I would go and pimp slap those girls and their mama's and tell Mongolian Duck that "you know what?? sometimes it's ok to be #^$%^%$& and she should take it as a compliment. Smile and say THANK YOU! I try hard! and walk away! It's not always a bad thing. Have her take it as a compliment and forget em!
