This was taken from my grandparents' front porch. It is so shady and peaceful there. They have had that wooden chair FOREVER! I can see my papa sitting in that chair on a hot day with it leaned back against the tree. Just passin' time...
My grandma calls these flowers "rooster combs" and has grown them for as long as I can remember. They get so HUGE...much bigger than any blue ribbon winner at our fair. I need to enter one for her.
You can always find some type of "country cure" at their house. She explained that a bag of egg shells will keep deer out of your garden. She always knows some odd "old wives tale" for just about any situation.

Since it is the first weekend of October we are heading to town to find Halloween costumes! Wish us luck...
BTW...I {heart} Joel McHale! But he should NEVER try to pull off a Rainbow Brite costume ever again!
Happy Weekend!

For the record, I love your scrolling messages at the top of your blog. I just peed the couch, made me laugh so hard!
And I LOVE the picture of the wooden chair next to the tree. It is so peaceful to me
Your photography is stunning. I love the chair under the tree - such sweet memories of your grandpa and to even have the chair now... Love it.
I also love the picture of the rooster comb... isn't it beautiful. I think you should enter it!
Egg shells in the garden? Does it work? I LOVE old wive tales... lots of them DO work. I love the netting.. Sooo pretty!
Your photography is wonderful!
That Joel sketch is one of my favorites.
Hi Scarppy! It;s been a long time since I dropped by. Look at your countdown! YOU GO GIRL! You are more than halfway there! awesome!
I just love your picture of your grandpa's chair out there under the tree! It makes me long for some of my own relatives who are gone now.
You know, if I was you, I;d be sure and ask Grandma for some of those seeds from her rooster combs. They are easy to plant and grow. Someday you will be so glad you have a start of hers!
Good luck with the costumes! I am trying to decide what mine should be too.
Much love girlie!

I love that first picture. Look at all that green. I could spend hours there just passing the time.
The first picture by the tree is so wonderful! I would love to have it hanging in my living room!
I agree, the chair under the tree looks so peaceful. Sounds a lot like my grandfather. He was always whittlin' too!

I know I've said it before, but I just love where you live. That chair under the tree speaks to me.
Have fun looking for costumes!
My grandfather always sat in a wooden chair on the front porch at the ranch - I loved it - he would lean back and just enjoy the sunset.
I had never heard that about egg shells and deer. My cousin says if you put up some fencing sticks and a white rope, deer will stay out of your garden. It works for her so we're going to try it next summer.
i love all those photos....it looks like such a wonderful place to be!
...and I ♥ Joel McHale & Rainbow Brite...but just not together too!
I can't believe it is October!
What happened?
My Dad has an old chair, out in the woods, that he sits in. Calls it his thinking chair. I love your photos!
