Meet Gwendolyn

Last weekend this feathered friend joined our family {against my wishes}. Manga Dork named her Gwendolyn, after the character she is playing in "The Importance of Being Earnest."

Gwendolyn {the bird} has slowly tweeted her way into my heart. I am even thinking of adding a blue "Earnest."

What pets do you have? What are their names? Why did you name them that?

When my son was young he had a parakeet that he named Max. When the parakeet layed an egg he told us that Max was short for Maxine.

When my kids were young we had, cats, dogs, birds, hamsters, rats, spiders, snakes, lizards, fish. Probably their favorite were the rats. Surprisingly social little creatures and smart. Currently I just have Tanner. Believe me when I tell you... He's enough :) He's a beautiful yellowish, golden, tan color so Tanner fits him perfectly.

Barley, the lab, is the color of wheat and it's kind of like the name Marley in Marley and Me. Lola had that name when we adopted her and she's definitely a Lola. (dumb, sweet dog) I love animals. We had a parakeet named Joker when I was little. He talked and was such a sweet bird.

My 3 cats would LOVE Gwendolyn (for lunch anyway). We started with 1 cat, rescued #2 and #3 just sorta adopted us. Dh says we absolutely CAN NOT get one more pet. That's okay- I've got 3 kids and a cat for each.

My middle son had a bird for the longest time. I HATED IT!! The cage and feathers everywhere drove me insane! He named it Jack because he loved the name and wished he could change his own name to Jack - so funny.

Bentley the Bulldog, The Sweethearts dog and he named him that. Walgrin and Dawson the dachshunds are the GRAND~girls dogs that live with me, they named them those names. Mo is short for Gizmo and is my 29 pound, 10 year old Maine Coon cat.

We had parakeets for awhile when I was growing up. They were the only pets my parents let us have. My mom complained about the feathers all the time.

We have two doggies - Harry and Harley. They both came with their names. Well....Harley's previous name was Narley and I didn't like that, so easy change. Doesn't matter though, he doesn't really pay attention to his name.
