Calling All Creative Minds!

Manga Dork's 13th birthday party is on Saturday, September 13th. The theme is going to be "Club Manga Dork," a 1980s dance club. We are renting the gym at our local community center and I just hired a DJ today! He even has a cool rhyming name (Carman Harman). LOL! So I have the place and the entertainment. The next step is the invitation...Here is my best idea...I want to do a flyer inviting everyone to the newest "freshest" dance club in our area like you see people passing out in NYC. I want to have cheesey 80s clip art on it and run them off on assorted neon colored paper. We are also going to attach a friendship bracelet (the weaved looking ones we ALL wore in the 80s). You have to have the bracelet to get in. Oh yeah...we also have a bouncer with tattoos to let people in!

I would LOVE to hear your ideas for invitations...keep in mind she is inviting the entire 7th and 8th grades and it will be close to 150 invites!

Here is some inspiration...

Happy Sunday! Relax and enjoy your 3 day weekend!

Wow - I loved the Eighties! The hair! The clothes! The music! The hair...did I mention, the HAIR????

Will the DJ play current music or the stuff from the 80s?

I'll have to think on the invitations...but it sounds cool.

I love Mcewens. I am feeling the same way. Give me the 70's and I am all over it. 80's were diapers and baseball. I am no help. I remember big hair and balloon pants and sweat bands. I think. :)

Good luck. It looks like it will be a blast. Your ideas so far are good ones Scrappy.

Love it and love the 80's! Very cool! How about sending out CD's to everyone with 2 songs or so from the 80's and her invitation is on the front?! You can buy a bundle of cd's for pretty cheap and load the songs at home. The expense would be in mailing them. Could she hand them out at school? Maybe give a stack to each classroom? I wanna go!?

This sounds like such a great party - can't wait to hear how everything goes. I have not one visually creative brain cell in my head - wish I could give some ideas, but I think what you have going on looks aweseom!
