W.W.M.I.L.D or How To Tick Off Your Daughter In Law

My MIL has ticked me off...

On Wednesday she asked me if she could just buckle Wild Child into the regular seat belt to drive the 2 miles to pick up niece/nephew from the bus...I said ABSOLUTELY NOT! She got the car seat from my car and took it to her home.

On Thursday she had both little ones. I was gone picking up a second gallon of "Wake Up Lime" paint. She buckled both of them in regular car seats and drove to pick up niece/nephew. My Mom was at my home and she could have taken them there until she got back.

Her exscuses were on Wed. my FIL did it and on Thurs. she didn't realize that it was time to go pick niece/nephew up and it was too late to run my kids up on the hill.

My point was that FIL should have known better (they had thrown the car seat in the trunk)AND she should have taken the time to take them up on the hill INSTEAD of endangering their lives to be ON TIME for niece/nephew. They would have just been with the bus driver for a couple minutes.

Would you be upset? Do your inlaws/parents do things with the kids even when you specifically tell them not to?

I do not live by my In Laws. But, yes it would have been upsetting to me. You need to talk to them about this Scrappy.

I would be upset. I would talk with them and let them know that seeing their grand kids is a privilege. IF they want to have this privilege, they need to follow your rules.

On the flip side, my kids do not have grandparents who live near by and so they are not a part of my kids lives. I have always felt badly about this.

I know that loving grandparents can be a wonderful influence in a child's life. I applaud your in laws for taking the kids into their home and wanting to be involved. That is not always the case.

So I would have a talk with them, but I would also tell them how much I appreciated them wanted to be a part of these kid's lives. m

Share the love by passing it to people who were extra sweet to you in your very beginning days;)

Ouch...touchy subject really when you deal with the in-laws. I married an orphan, so technically he is the only one who has to deal with inlaw situations. Maybe you could get Dr. Hubby to broach the subject and let them know, medically, it is a neccessity. It's not like when we were kids and they could drive around with us in their arms. And accidents generally happen in a 5 mile radius of home.
Keep us posted.

First of all, thanks so much for the award! Second of all...don't get me started on the things like that that my MIL does! I just try to give her the benefit of the doubt and know that she loves him and means well ...

It would make me very mad! When I have my grandson I make sure his Dad puts the carseat in my correctly before I take him anywhere! They're so wiggly! They can get out of about anything!

Yep, and I was tolerant at first and then finally it was just blatantly slap me in the face rude and I put the smack down on that! I said, if you can't learn to respect my wishes or respect me in front of my children then you will not see them. I am their mother and have a right not to have them around negative influences.
smack down, she bit her tongue so hard I thought I saw blood.
OH well,
