9/11...And a Question...

In memory of 9/11 and everyone involved with that tragic day I thought I would post these 2 pics from our NYC trip. It is Ground Zero and the statue from the front of the towers.

Things are really starting to come together for Manga Dork's party. This has been alot of work, but it has been fun (except for the moments of anxiety). I think I have found a 80s "ride" for her to arrive in...an IROC-Z. I think that is how it is spelled. So cool!

Also I have a question...What would your reaction be if you were me? The aunt of Manga Dork's BFF called and asked if I would be offended if they put together a 13th birthday party for BFF that was just like Manga Dork's (DJ, invite junior high, etc.) except in a "winter theme." Her bday is in January. I am just curious...

Wow....i love those pictures. and i will think about the birthday thing...but i think i might be flattered that they want to do a birthday party like you did for your daughter....but then again....hmmmm....i don't know what i would say.

I think that is great. Her BFF and her family must really be loving your party idea.

Imitation is the highest form of flattery. So I would be flattered and tell them to go for it!

Also I would be very glad that it was not me putting on another one of these in January. Sounds like a lot of work right after Christmas.

What do you think?

PS
Thanks for the photos. Meaningful.

The statue made me cry:(

I would be flattered! You are doing such a great job at making it look so fun!

" " is the truest form of flattery. Having a mentalpause and dementia moment and can't think of the word??? Anyone???

I agree: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ;)

I think that should be fine, she is using your idea, because it is a cool idea! I wouldn't be upset. My SIL, copies me a lot, even in gift giving-forcing me to return my gift and find something else. It is annoying, but that is because she has no original ideas of her own, and it just makes me realize that I made a good choice. I hope that made sense.

As for the alternate shape inchies at AMR, I saw that you joined, that is awesome! Did you know they are due in 4 days? I just thought I would let you know. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

I just have one question...how do you put a winter theme on a 80s party?
I used to drive a Camaro! LOL It had an IROC engine...Man, I would fly :)

You don't put a winter theme on an 80s party...they are going to change the 80s to a winter/snowball theme! They are copying everything else (location, DJ, inviting junior high, time, day of the week, etc.) No one around here does much for their kid's birthdays. It is kinda weird. So for us to go big like this is WAY out of the ordinary.

I am sure yours will be better though!!!

As for the swap, thanks for letting me know...She must have changed the date, It used to be the 15th-I remember that because I thought is was really close to the close date and wondering if it would be enough time. Oh well, I guess mine are just early, lol! Now you have time to get them done :) Good luck on the party, I know you will ROCK it! Yours is the first, people will remember that. They will say, "WOW, Scrappy Girls party was so awesome, that this other lady is copying her, what a loser!"

I know that it must feel sort of like someone stealing your wonderful idea. It just doesn't feel good. You want to have the party and make it your own and have it feel special. Trust me Scrappy, it will never be as good as yours. Never. I am sorry. You will still be the first one and know one can take that from you :)

i think i would have to go with what everyone else is saying.
"imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

i've had to repeat that one to myself a few times.

yours (manga dork's) was first though, and everyone knows it!

Many people aren't creative, and it's apparent that you Miss Scrappy are. It's just like scraplifting, sort of. Take it as a compliment and know that yours will be FIRST, and better! :)

Well think of it this way...you are starting a way cool trend! Whenever anybody talks about this, they'll say "Hey, do you remember Manga Dork's totally tubular party?"

Cool beans... :)
