NYC Day #3 Tuesday

Today was what I referred to as NBC day. We popped out of the subway hole into Times Square. It was SO cool. There is SO much to look at and people are EVERYWHERE!

I got all excited to see these 2 men working on one of these little bridge-like things that they lower down sides of buildings. I took this picture and I noticed they weren't moving ... THEY WERE AS FAKE AS MY FIL'S NEW ROLEX! LOL!

We headed over to NBC studios to take the Studio Tour. It was so neat to see the sets. The SNL set is SO neat. The audience sits in seats from Yankee Stadium that have been painted yellow. They are supposed to be good luck so they won't let them leave the set. If they need repaired the repairman comes to them. 3 seats had to be replaced and they are painted red. They are considered the red letter seats. The sets are cooled with refrigerated air because the lighting heats things up so much. So when they are not in use...they are COLD!

The NBC studio experience store was really neat. There was merchandise from alot of the shows. We got my Dad a Hat with "Jay Leno's Garage" on it. He loves Jay's car collection and his show. This NBC peacock logo is filled with M&Ms.

Rockefeller Center is really neat. I recognized the gold statue from TV. The House Beautiful Kitchen of the Year and Tastes of Summer event was being held there. We ate pizza from one of the booths.

My Lil Sis and I got all excited when we saw a red carpet put down on the street. We asked a police officer what was going on. He said it was the All Star Game Parade. Cool. We are not sports fans, but we did see several retired players that I recognized. While my BIL and his sis watched the parade we toured Radio City Music Hall.

It was neat to see the inside of the hall. We sat in the seats and the stage is HUGE! I would love to see the Christmas show. I could just imagine sitting there among all the celebs when the opening of an awards show says, "Live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City......"

Lil Sis and I met a Rockette. They have to be 5'6" - 5' 10" tall. Notice Lil Sis is taller than this one. I was feeling VERY vertically challenged.

After the tour and collecting the rest of our group we went to check in for the taping of "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." It was SO much fun and I laughed so hard. Conan is SO tall and his head really is big. He looks a little like a bobble head doll. HeeHee! Seeing the guests was very exciting! Heidi Klum is gorgeous and thin. KT Tunstall and Daryl Hall sounded fantastic. The best surprise was that they had added Joel McHale to the guests. Lil Sis and I were ecstatic! For those of you who don't know...he is the host of The Soup on E!TV. As reality TV junkies we love watching The Soup! This was almost as good as Meryl Streep...almost.

We ate at Ruby Tuesday for dinner. We took a cab ride that was like a high speed chase...no joke. I discovered that I giggle continuously when weaving in and out of traffic at dangerous speeds. We ended our night with a stroll past lots of fancy stores. We went into the lobby of the Trump Tower. Very pretty. Love the marble floors. I think there is a Starbucks every 5 feet in this town!

Gross NYC fact: When you blow your nose...it is black. I guess it is the subways and car exhaust. It is very yucky. LOL

Wow Scrappy. I always invision Conan to fall when he spins. I wait for that day. I knew he was tall, but didn't realize about the head. That hair is high too I bet.

How fun to go see so many things you hear about, but to really be able to see them. So cool.

Glad you got to go and experience black nose blow.
