My rings

005/365
The 5th photo for Project 365 is of my wedding rings. Dr. Hubby and I were so young (19) when we got married. He asked me to marry him on a school field trip to the zoo on March 14th and then started saving to buy me a ring. For my birthday in November he gave me a ring box while we were eating at Shoneys. I opened it under the table and he told me to put it on. I thought that was a little weird and not how I had imagined the moment. He said to let him see it. So I lifted my hand from under the table...and his mouth dropped open, he lowered his head, and said "That's the wrong one." He went back to the car and got another box and I put the engagement ring back and exchanged it for the other box. It was a mother of pearl ring...pretty, but not my engagement ring. He actually made me wait til almost midnite that night when he was getting ready to leave my house. He asked me to marry him again on the front porch and gave me my ring. I loved it! It even has a visible black speck in it. I love that cause it reminds me that marriage is not perfect. Dr. Hubby has wanted to replace my ring with a bigger more expensive ring, but I can't. My ring is an important part of our love story.

That is a wonderful story. I think you should keep the ring just the way it is. Thanks for making my heart melt. m

That is so sweet!! My engagement ring is gold-plated with cubic zirconium, lol! 20 bucks at Walmart! My wedding band is hollow metal with crappy gold plating, 15 bucks at Kmart. I wouldn't trade them for the world!

AAAHHHH...what a great story. I would not change a thing either! I still have my original wedding set after almost 20 years of marriage. My hubby keeps trying to replace them or as he say "upgrade them", but I don't care about size or style. It's the story behind it that's so special!

Ahhhh. He must have been so nervous. The fumbling is kind of endearing. I wouldn't replace it with a fancier one either.

What a sweet story - I always say that mine remind me of how we struggled - My diamond is simple and it still speaks volumes to me everytime I look at it sitting on my left hand.
Thanks for that sweet memory.

Wonderful story! Keep the rings and wear them always...new ones just don't feel the same! My hubby has wanted to replace my rings for the last few years, but I won't let him...I love my rings!! We celebrate 20 years this year...holy cow, where did the years go??? We were 20 and 22 when we married!! Oh and he proposed to me in the middle of a street....after I got mad at him for some silly thing.

What a beautiful story and photo! We celebrated 17 years just 2 days ago, and my hubby proposed to me on the banks of the Potomac River.

What a beautiful story! I love reading stories like that. How fun that he had two rings! Don't ever trade in your beautiful ring for a bigger! I'm glad you turned that down. The original is far too special!
